I found yoga through my 23-year career in the United States Senate where I signed up for a weekly lunchtime yoga class. This one hour a week respite from a demanding schedule eventually led to a full commitment to yoga and all its possibilities.

In June 2010, I completed and certified in the 200-hour teacher training program and in-depth study of Hatha Yoga, with a focus on Vinyasa Yoga, at Hot Yoga Studio in Washington, D. C. That summer I completed and certified in a week-long teacher training study with yoga master Max Strom. I have studied at the Unity Woods Iyengar Studio for several years. I have studied with John Schumacher, Master Iyengar Teacher, at his Teacher Training weekends in Berkley Springs, as well as having completed a full year study of Pranayama with him. Over the course of practicing yoga for 21 years, I have attended many workshops with yoga masters, as well as having traveled on several yoga retreats in an effort to refine my practice. I completed the requirements for Reiki First Degree.

My membership with Yoga Alliance is current. I have certified in the curriculum offered by American Heart Association for Heartsaver AED Program. I have held personal insurance throughout my teaching experience.

I have been teaching at studios and privately since 2010. My teaching career began at Yoga Fusion in Bethesda, where I taught three to four classes a week until their closing in 2017. Since the closing of Yoga Fusion, I had been a regular teacher at The Mindfulness Center in Bethesda, until their closing in 2020. From 2019 to 2020, I was a regular teacher at Park Potomac Yoga. Other studios in which I have taught are The Washington Yoga Center, Simon Says Yoga and Sweet Bay Iyengar Studio. During the pandemic year of 2020, I taught a weekly private outdoor class at my home.
